about

‘Chocolate Pills’, offers listeners a modern pop sound mashed with 80’s alternative rock! The track is a tip of the hat to the artist’s early and recent influences and appeals to fans of The Cure, Bell X1 and Future Islands. With poignant lyrics, infectious melodies and catchy synth hooks, Chocolate Pills provides a metaphor for the importance of, and power of, positive social human interaction, compassion and empathy.

lyrics

Chocolate Pills
Verse 1)
Headstrong and so I ask, underline a certain task, take a look inside my head, there’s daemons underneath my bed.
Mind soft but feeling hard, a welcome chance to be discharged, take a walk inside my shoes, make an offer I refuse, and I will give you

Chorus)

Chocolate pills to try and change your mind,
Staring up the corridors with no place left to hide,
And when you leave I’ll still be here at the end of the day,
I will give you chocolate pills to try and change your mind

Verse 2)

Under pressure to achieve, wear your heart upon your sleeve, no applause for you today, all your efforts meet dismay.
Tuesday Wednesday heart attack, one step forward two steps back, your cure is all I need, to get me back up on my feet and I will give you

Chorus)

I will give you chocolate pills to try and change your mind,
Staring up the corridors with no place left to hide,
And when you leave I’ll still be here at the end of the day,
I will give you chocolate pills to try and change your mind

Bridge)

Is it true what they say that I’m falling behind and that I’m one step closer to paradise,
Your kingdom never comes and I don’t really care for a basic conversation with a minute to spare x3

Chorus x 2

Chocolate Pills is a metaphor for the power of the human relationship when interacting with somebody suffering, in crisis, in trauma, the list goes on. Compassion, empathy, patience and humanity are as equally powerful, if not more powerful at times than other means. Never ever underestimate the power of the human relationship or the impact your response can have on another.

This video contrasts a troubled frantic mind and a sense of being alone in that battle, with that of smiling faces, friends willing to reach out and support, the brighter side waiting to be embraced.

This track was inspired by some wonderfully strong resilient people fighting their daemons in search of a more positive outcome. Maybe it's you they need to help get them there.
